Haus Seestern

The guest wallbox is a real bonus, and you can book breakfast too. The holiday apartment is huge, very well equipped, and in a great spot on the edge of town. Right beside it there's a 24-hour kiosk and a good pizzeria with upbeat music.

We paid about €95 for three people, breakfast included, and were completely satisfied. The value for money is right. I was a little nervous after reading the reviews, and we had a brief muddle finding the place because there are several hotels, guesthouses, and Haus Seestern up there. Once we got oriented, we found it. Getting the key from a lockbox made our late arrival easy. We had room ten, which sleeps up to four. The bunk mattresses were a bit worn, while the double bed mattresses were fine. The pillows could do with a wash or replacement, which might matter to allergy sufferers. We didn't see bugs, dog hair, big cobwebs, or anything like that. Even with good weather, the attic room didn't get as hot as I'd expected. The kitchenette dishes were worn but clean, and the fridge with its freezer compartment was good. The place is a little dated overall. The bathroom was clean, with no mold, though I'm not keen on shower curtains. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, with something for everyone, and nothing to complain about aside from the cramped space.

A lovely guesthouse, with new holiday apartments and a really tasty breakfast. Great value for money, definitely recommend it.

The room was quiet despite the many guests with children and dogs, and it did have the four sleeping places as advertised. That's about the only positive. Cleanliness was poor, with spiders and webs or dusty strands everywhere, including in the stairwell, which was full of spiders. The cooking area had two old rusty hotplates, one medium pot, one small pot, and a tiny pan. There were no forks or knives, only spoons. The very small, cramped bathroom barely has room to turn around in. Breakfast isn't suitable for people with allergies or celiac disease, but even if you tell them beforehand that a documented illness means you can't eat it, they won't discount it or remove it from the bill. Wi-Fi was available, but didn't reach our room; even after asking several times, the guesthouse had no solution or accommodation after three days. The staff on site spoke hardly any German, were unfriendly, and always seemed annoyed. They wouldn't make a fresh pot of coffee when we arrived, and told us to look for leftovers in the pots on other tables. TV reception was pretty choppy. The grill areas listed on Booking weren't there and couldn't be used. There were no blackout blinds or curtains, just white curtains, so you might as well sleep with the light on. We paid the tourist tax before arrival, but got no receipt or visitor card, even when we arrived, so we had to pay the regular beach admission.
