AKZENT Hotel Albert

The staff were friendly, spoke multiple languages, and were very helpful. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. A really nice hotel in Dorsten.

We were asked to stop at the hotel before heading to Movie Park, but when we arrived at 14:00, our room still wasn’t ready. We ended up checking in later that evening. The room was very clean and comfortable, and both the breakfast and service were excellent.

The breakfast was enjoyable, with staff keeping everything stocked. They topped up the coffee machine’s milk and made sure there were bread rolls throughout. Our room was nice and had most of what we needed, but there was no air conditioning, fridge, or advertised complimentary bottle of water. The room had a sign promising a free bottle, but the hotel said we could get water from a vending machine that only took coins, which was inconvenient when travelling cashless for safety. We ended up drinking tap water from the bathroom, though it wasn’t cold enough to cool us down. In hot weather, air conditioning would help. Opening the windows brought in street noise, so that wasn’t a good way to deal with the heat either. We came for a weekend visit to Movie Park Germany. When booking, my wife told the staff we expected to check in between 8PM and 9PM because we were driving from the Netherlands. They said that was fine. The drive takes two hours, and since we both work full time, we couldn’t leave before about 6PM. Booking.com listed check-in as 3PM to 10PM, so we were within the stated hours. At 19:45, while we were still on the way, the front desk called to ask when we’d arrive because they wanted to “close the house.” We said our GPS showed we were 15 minutes away, and they repeated that they wanted to “close the house.”

We needed a car to see the surrounding area, but the local roads were in great shape and getting around was easy. The staff remembered what we wanted at breakfast and made sure our particular requests were taken care of. The bar was closed on two evenings during our stay, which we only learned when we arrived. It wasn’t a big issue, as we went out and found the Ramirez on Massenstr in nearby Schermbeck. The food there is simple and the service is good.
