Hotel Bei Yasemin

I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel. I went to Edeka across the street instead, since the very basic, outdated menu at the restaurant below didn’t seem suitable for someone like me who doesn’t eat meat. The room had plenty of problems. There was hair on the bed linen, a stained towel, and dust under the beds. The beds squeak and are definitely too hard for many people. Depending on the season, the duvets are too thin, and in my room the heating didn’t do a good job of keeping the temperature down. The toilet seat was loose and kept sliding around; the shower curtain was so filthy it literally stood upright, though being black made the dirt less noticeable. The blinds were so-so, and many things seemed improvised or temporary. It felt less like a hotel and more like a workers’ dorm. The accommodation was simply unacceptable, even though the owner was very friendly and helpful. There was a refrigerator. A few weeks after I posted this, Google notified me that the hotel had reported my review and that it was being temporarily removed. I had to prove I’d stayed there and that what I wrote was true. Now I understand how this place can have such high ratings: critical reviews get reported, and many people can’t be bothered dealing with Google, so those voices disappear. Dear hotel seekers, do what you will with that information, but it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

For affordable accommodation about a 25-minute drive from Veltins Arena, Yasemin's is a good option. We stayed one night because of the Pur concert. The rooms were good, and the breakfast buffet was adequate.

My bed had bed bugs, and I was bitten. The room smelled awful too. There was nobody at reception at night, and when I found the bugs, I couldn’t reach anyone by phone. Never again!!!

We booked this hotel because we were having dinner at Björn Freitag's restaurant, the Golden Anchor, which is within walking distance. The hotel was clean, parking was available, and breakfast was adequate. The price was reasonable too. Recommended.
