A surprise night in Dortmund after Deutsche Bahn let me down turned out to be pretty manageable here. Getting a room took almost no time, and my twin room with a bathroom was €98, with more space than I expected. The hotel is right across from the train station, and the football museum is just in front. Its screen lights shine toward the room, but closing the curtains mostly dealt with that. The shower floor was oddly slippery, though, and could use a grippy mat. It felt like a safe haven after the DB mess.

The rooms are warm for this time of year and clean, with all the basic necessities. They face the main road, but the hotel is very close to the train station.

We booked one night for two people and called that morning to confirm. They told us the reservation was confirmed. At check-in, the receptionist asked about breakfast and said it was included, so we thought it was free. Only later did we find out we’d been charged an extra €14.50. At breakfast, reception then said breakfast was for one person only. Apparently the woman had entered that in the system the day before, and even showed us the screen. They charge money without providing the service. Worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

The stay itself was okay, but the service was completely unacceptable. Before arriving, I tried to prepay and got messages with payment links for three different amounts. When I emailed to ask why, they gave a somewhat explanatory answer: breakfast and tax had been left out of the first email. Why can’t one system show what’s due and what’s already paid? After the trip, I needed a receipt for my company because it was a business stay. They sent one with the wrong amount again. I emailed three times and called twice, but four days later I still had no corrected receipt. That’s a serious failure in customer service, and it felt very unprofessional and unreliable.
