The hotel is fairly close to the town center, which is about the only good thing I can say. The room smelled of smoke and felt dirty, and the rooms have an odd, porn-film kind of feel. Walls are thin, the corridors get noisy, and the pillows were possibly the worst I’ve had in a hotel. The bath towels are ridiculously small. There’s no air conditioning, and the huge roll-down shutters on the windows made the room feel like a prison. Breakfast was crowded, with little choice, poor quality, and nothing fresh. The pancakes, for instance, came prepacked and were warmed in a microwave. One morning it was so busy that they set tables up in what seemed to be a meeting room. Our key card stopped working several times, and each replacement was handed over without any security check, which concerned me. The staff weren’t very engaging. If you need someone, they may be outside smoking at the front or back of the hotel. We stayed three nights and the room was made up just once. Do yourself a favour and don’t book here.

The advertised air conditioning wasn’t there, and the room smelled awful from the moment we walked in. Although the hotel was listed as wheelchair accessible, the only way in was through the kitchen exit, which felt neither practical nor dignified. There was no parking, and the area was noisy and unpleasant. Plaza Inn Dortmund was a deeply disappointing, misleading experience. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If you really dislike someone, send them here….

I’ve stayed here more than once, and it’s been a reliable choice when I just need a comfortable night. The rooms are modern, nicely designed, clean, and cozy, with a quiet, relaxing feel. It’s very affordable too. I wouldn’t pick it for a long vacation, but for a private one-night romantic getaway, it works great. I’ll be back.

The rooms are decent, and at least there’s a train station right beside the hotel, though the location itself isn’t great. The receptionist was hot. All in all, 3 out of 5.

We had a comfortable stay, with a quiet room, nice staff, and an affordable price. The place was clean as well. Parking was the one drawback: the hotel only has a few spaces, and there isn’t much street parking in the residential area.
