Hotel Gut Altona

The restaurant was good, and everything was clean and professional. Still, getting that look when I didn’t leave a tip put a damper on the whole experience.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the staff gave great service throughout. The beds were comfortable, the bedroom was a good size, and so was the bathroom. From check-in, we were welcomed warmly, shown to our room, and helped with bicycle storage. Great value for money.

We had a lovely meal in the cozy restaurant, with excellent food and very good service. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful too.

The restaurant is in a superb location, and the staff were extremely friendly. The food was good quality and delicious, with a wide choice of vegetarian and even vegan dishes, which is a real plus for this region. We had dinner there, though we didn’t stay at the hotel. There were some frustrating parts. The waiters didn’t know much about the dishes and couldn’t suggest wines from the extra wine menu. We ordered a 2020 wine but were served the 2021 vintage twice. When we pointed that out, nobody responded. The prices also felt high for what we got. The truffle pasta had a rather thin sauce and not much truffle on top. A double espresso cost €4.40 and came from a fully automatic machine rather than a traditional sieve carrier machine. Even from a sieve carrier machine, that would have been too expensive. It could be a nice place to enjoy with friends or family, and it’s worth visiting to see for yourself. But it’s pricey, and the value for money just isn’t quite there.
