The final meal we had at the "Anker" on the main street was excellent, and the restaurant was clean. We felt welcome there. That came after a very disappointing visit to Seetrasse, where we're considering reporting the restaurant to the hygiene inspectors. The greasy cooking smell reached the holiday apartments too, and if the dining room stinks like that, something can't be right. At Seetrasse we were a party of six, and from the start the service felt rude and dismissive. The woman didn't greet us, and when we asked if it was okay that we'd added two chairs to a table for four, she replied, "Well, you already did that!" It began raining, so we went inside and sat by the kitchen entrance. The rancid grease smell was so strong that we moved to a conservatory with an open window just to breathe. Our drinks were empty, but nobody responded when we asked for more, even with the glasses set at the front of the table. Three of us ordered appetizers. Mine never came until we asked, and when she found it on her order slips, she ran off again. It arrived later, a ragout fin that was more like baked fricassee, and it was quite alright. The main courses were placed down without the server knowing which was which. She nearly had to pick up the meat to tell the plates apart. I ordered Hawaiian steak, but got croquettes instead of the fried potatoes I asked for. When I pointed it out, she huffed and took the plate away. I could already see the other plates and the fried potatoes, and tried to say I didn't want the meal anymore, but she didn't hear me. Two minutes later she came back with a huge, soggy pile of packaged fried potatoes. I refused it. She stood at the table fuming and unsure what to do, until my husband raised his voice and told her plainly to take it away, as we wouldn't pay for it. Her daughter's schnitzel was inedible, so tough she could barely cut or chew it. The extra sauce she ordered never arrived, and after a long discussion the meal was taken off the bill. We were all stuffed. We also saw that all the food was inedible: meat dishes smothered in canned mushrooms, overcooked goulash, unsalted potatoes, and fried potatoes like a mountain of mush. Other reviews have examples of how these owners treat guests. People from the holiday apartments also mentioned the stench. We were disappointed by the restaurant's audacity, and by our own stupidity for not leaving as soon as we sat down. We're on vacation, in a great mood, and happy to spend our money where we like, but not with you. If you don't care about nice people, give up the business. You're a shame for this wonderful island!

The plastic in the red cabbage was the point where I felt sick. I had ordered beef roulade with red cabbage and dumplings, but got a very small roulade with potatoes instead. When I said I'd asked for dumplings, my wife had heard it too, the waitress said, "No!" Then she checked her pad and said she guessed she hadn't written it down. I let the potatoes go, since it was my birthday and I didn't want a fuss. But the ready-made roulade was inedible, with that paste of onions, mustard, and pickles that no normal cook would fill a roulade with, and the next three bites were full of tendons and tough meat. The red cabbage was no better, a blue piece of plastic came out with my third forkful. We'd gone to eat in Dranske for my birthday, with my wife and daughter. The menu felt like a relic from the past, as did the interior. Still, we stayed, hoping for something simple and good. When we came in, we were glanced at but not greeted. We ordered a LARGE drink each, then were given 0.2-liter glasses and told, "I couldn't find anywhere in the till to enter 'large drinks'." They could have just entered the drinks twice. There were no pasta dishes for children, but they did bring our 3-year-old half an adult portion. After I told the waitress about the roulade and plastic, I said we weren't prepared to pay for that meal. She said a brief "Oh!" and left, then didn't come back. I followed her to ask for the bill, and to make sure she hadn't misunderstood and started preparing another portion. The bill came quickly and still charged full price for the roulade. We discussed it again, and she seemed surprised by our request, as if the plastic was news to her or she hadn't been listening. She left and returned with a discount, supposedly added by the manager, of just €3.90 for a ready-made roulade with plastic in the side dish. I wanted to leave, so I paid the €5 for the meal. There was no apology. The evening was ruined. As the saying goes, if something is okay, three people hear about it, but if it's terrible, nine will. I hope this was helpful.

I can't say anything about the restaurant, since we didn't try it. Our apartment was clean and perfectly fine, the house is well located, parking was free, and contact and welcome were friendly. But the upstairs apartments, at least the ones facing west, seem unsuitable for hot summer days. From afternoon on, the rooms got so hot it was hard to breathe, and we slept poorly even with the windows open. Proper blackout curtains and/or fans would help. The worst part for us was the smell of grease and cooking drifting in from the restaurant kitchen every evening. At 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), that was anything but pleasant. That's why we took off two stars.

We were in Dranske on August 17, 2013, and left without eating or drinking anything. I was there with my 11-month-old daughter and had wanted to eat at the lakeside terrace, a pavilion where I'd had school lunch every day as a child. First I asked for a high chair. They said they were all taken, though I should mention there was only one other family with two small children in the restaurant. So I figured I'd feed her in the stroller or on my grandmother's lap. Then I asked an employee if she could warm my daughter's baby food jar. She said it wasn't possible, they weren't allowed, and that it was even company policy. I asked if she was joking or pulling my leg, but she insisted. I'd never experienced anything like it, everywhere else they warm my food for me. When I asked how I was supposed to get it warm, she said it wasn't her problem. We got up and left.

There were six of us, and we were all disappointed. Service was friendly, and the food and drinks came quickly, but the cooking was a letdown. The fish soup had only frozen fish and vegetables and no flavor. The fish platter was oily and tasteless, and its fried potatoes were soggy. Everything seemed to be made from frozen ingredients and ready-made sauces, including the meat dishes. I wouldn't recommend it.
