Hotel Heidenschanze

A really nice, quiet place. Everything was fine.

The hotel sits between a former landfill and a ruin, in a rather picturesque spot. For the route, I’d recommend coming from the Birkigt district via Birktigter Straße. The alternative route isn’t a good choice. Public transport is available, though reaching it means walking, including some uphill stretches.

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms and shared facilities were clean. You can tell they put in an effort. The standard breakfast and dinner would get old for me if I stayed more than a week, though. If the hotel is full, it would also make sense for the restaurant area to stay open until 10 p.m. I wasn’t here on vacation, anyway. See you again soon.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, though simply furnished, and the beds are narrow. We had a good three-night stay, with tasty food, two lunch options, and a generous breakfast buffet. The staff were attentive in the background, courteous, friendly, helpful, and competent. The hotel is quiet and a little secluded, which made for a wonderfully undisturbed night's sleep. One morning, three deer were looking down the hillside. There was no city commotion or traffic noise. It’s about 1 km to the tram stop, where there’s free parking and a good snack bar, and the ride to the center or main station takes 10 minutes. The setting around the old quarry is more appealing than the hotel’s location itself; it isn’t exactly idyllic, but the quiet outskirts have their charm. We think it works well for seminars as well as city visits, and would gladly stay again. Best wishes from Bavaria!
