ibis Styles Dresden Neustadt

The hotel is well connected, with a tram stop right by the building and a train station an easy walk away. Our family room had enough space for all five of us, and the staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, though the room got very crowded while the hotel was fully booked. We stayed three nights at ibis Styles Dresden Neustadt and would come back on another trip to Dresden.

The staff were good, and breakfast was decent and filling. Those were the only saving graces in a disappointing stay. The official website said there was car parking on the property, but what the hotel meant was that you could park for free on nearby roads. I don't see how that counts as parking available. The location wasn't very good, and there were no visible signs, so we had to search a bit to find the hotel. Our room faced the road, and with the window tilted because it got too hot inside, we heard trams every ten minutes, along with cars and traffic, all night.

The room wasn't very clean: there were used tissues and cotton tips left behind the heating elements. The routes to the rooms were dimly lit too, with poor visibility. Outside, the streets were rowdy, with graffiti and trash everywhere, although the tram stop is right in front and very convenient. The hotel staff were awesome, especially the friendly night security lady, and breakfast was great with an impressive range of savory dishes. The coffee from the machine, unfortunately, wasn't good.

The evening receptionist seemed completely uninterested, though the person who checked me out in the morning was much friendlier. Parking was free but hard to find, and public transport to the old town was about a seven-minute walk. My room was spacious, but I could hear the neighbors, probably because of the building's age. The place left me with a dark, lonely feeling: apart from reception and the breakfast area, the walls were black, the carpet was dark, and the lighting was very dim.
