Taste Hotel Dresden - ehemals Residenz Alt Dresden

The area is quiet, and although it's a little outside the inner city, public transport connections are great. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Staff were very friendly, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Can only recommend!

The breakfast has enough to fill you up, with breads, cheeses, sausages, and eggs, though there's not a huge selection. Desserts are another story: there are very few, and they often run out. If you arrive late, you may find empty plates that staff don't refill. The room itself is rather old, but clean and generally comfortable.

The staff were friendly, but I was really disappointed with the stay. It's far from the city center, the decor is very old-fashioned, and the cleaning wasn't done properly. I choose a hotel instead of an Airbnb because I expect daily cleaning. There was a note in the room saying cleaning would happen every 2 days for environmental reasons, but I don't see how vacuuming and making the bed would affect the environment. Even when the room was cleaned, it wasn't especially clean, and we weren't given hand soap.

We had to stay for 4 days, and I felt unwelcome the whole time. The hotel itself isn't that bad, but the staff were grumpy and impolite. Our checkout was at 12, yet housekeeping came into my room yelling things I couldn't understand in German, three times before 11:30, despite the do not disturb sign. We were told outside drinks weren't allowed in the lobby, which was fine. But I had a kebab and beer to take to my room, and before I even got to the elevator, the front desk guy yelled that I couldn't drink them in the loony, even though I was on my way upstairs. Very rude. Not coming back.
