Hotel Hilgers

I felt comfortable here. The hotel is clean and welcoming, my room had good furnishings, and breakfast was perfectly adequate. The owner was very friendly. Parking is the drawback for business travelers: there are no spaces at the hotel, though you should be able to find a spot on a side street.

Getting to Merode Castle was easy thanks to Mr. Becker, who suggested bus No. 296 for the round trip. We sorted it out over WhatsApp before arriving, with no hassle. We’d come back for a longer stay too. The hotel and breakfast room are tastefully decorated, clean, and very well kept, and the service was excellent. Mrs. Gores welcomed us warmly. She’s an older lady, very well-groomed, friendly, and helpful. We were there for one night while visiting the Christmas market at Merode Castle, and were pleasantly surprised. Room No. 19 felt incredibly cozy and was very, very clean. The beds were comfortable, and we really appreciated having a sofa to relax on in the evening. The bathroom had a shower, bright lights, and an outlet by the mirror. There was another mirror with an outlet in the hallway. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. The tables were set, coffee was already there, the buffet was laid out, and the candles made it feel inviting. It was a bright spot in Germany’s service desert. Thank you so much.

It’s clean, though a little worn and showing its age. The price for what you get seems okay to me.

We spent five days at this lovely little hotel, which seems to be family-run. They were very accommodating, and even though it’s right by the road, nights were pleasantly quiet. There’s no proper car park, but we always managed to find a space on the street in front. It’s worth the price, and we’ll definitely book again next time.
