The location is handy, right by Saarlouis old town, and our room was modern and well equipped. The entrance and shared areas felt old fashioned and somewhat run down. There is no hotel car park, despite what the description says. Breakfast was a good continental spread, served in a quirky, rather musty dining room. We arrived on a Sunday night to find the hotel completely unstaffed, so we had to get door codes and other information over the phone. After a long drive, that wasn't ideal. The main door had been left unlocked.

The food was the best part for me. The restaurant quality was amazing, and they also have drinks and a really impressive cigar collection. Staff were nice and behaved well. It feels like a traditional local family business, with an old and a new building linked by a narrow, fairly dark corridor. My room was equipped well but wasn't very big, and there was no minibar. The toilet and shower space was good and spacious. Supplies were limited to shampoo, towels, and tissues, with no water, toothpaste, or anything else. I had a balcony shared with three other rooms. I liked dinner but not breakfast, which could have had a few more items. Still, I enjoyed the night thanks to the friendly service, excellent restaurant food downstairs, clean, well-kept textiles, and nice bathroom.
