Hotel Goldener Hahn

It's close to the train station and downtown, and the price is reasonable. Thank you very much!

It was a restful stay, and nobody disturbed me. The room was comfortable, and the location is very close to the central station, which is perfect if you're traveling by train. There were only dark curtains, and the building opposite is very close. That left me choosing between having the curtains fully open or keeping the room very dim. The WC, staircase, and showers were cold, especially in the morning. All the windows were open during the night. There was no kitchen or common area for guests, the TV didn't work, and check-in wasn't smooth. I had to call to get in.

The room was neat and clean, and the service and staff's behavior were top class. The person in charge was very good, and I could call him even 100 times without bothering him. The location is great, just 3-4 minutes' walk from HBF. Check-in and checkout were automatic and very smooth: they put your key in a safe locker, give you the code, and you collect the key and go to your room. No paperwork or extra waiting. The room itself was full of insects. In the evening we couldn't see anything, but at night there were thousands of them. We were exhausted and couldn't sleep a single minute. Hundreds of insects bit us. At midnight I called the manager. He said every room was full, apologized, and told us he'd give us a full refund the next morning. We did get the refund, but after a long journey we still spent a sleepless night. We tried at 12.00, but couldn't check into another hotel. The room Wi-Fi wasn't working either. It kept connecting and loading the whole time. I don't know the condition of the other rooms, but if they fix these problems, this could be the best cheap place to stay in Duisburg.

The person who helped us over the phone was pleasant and helpful, and sent all the instructions for arriving very late. The room is very basic, but affordable and just what you need for a few hours' rest during a long trip.
