The room had pubic hair in the bathroom and elsewhere, and there were hairs and dirt on the duvet, which looked like it hadn’t been changed. The towels also seemed used, and the toilet seat was yellow from urine. It was disgusting and a serious failure of basic hygiene. We’d chosen the hotel because of its high reviews, but the stay was extremely disappointing. Our booking was for two adults and a child, yet there were only two towels and two pillows. The television looked older than the hotel itself, and in 2026, not having a Smart TV doesn’t feel very smart or up to modern hotel standards. We also saw a note saying the hotel is “green,” rooms are cleaned only every three nights, and only a minimum number of towels are provided. That isn’t eco-friendly to us, it’s simply dirty and unacceptable. Environmental policies don’t excuse poor hygiene or inadequate service. Cleanliness is a basic duty for any hotel. This stay was a complete failure, and we’ll never return. The hotel should be ashamed to offer paying guests these conditions.

Intercity hotel is in a very good location close to the train station, but getting in was awkward. The main entrance was locked, so I had to go all the way around to reach the hotel in the rain with all my luggage. My room’s bedding smelled strongly of someone’s sweat, as if it hadn’t been changed. I told reception and was given another room. The rooms are standard and compact. In the morning, bath water ran across the bathroom floor and into the entrance area because there was no stopper in the shower cabin and the water was clogged. I paid about 190Euros and didn’t expect this level of service. Maybe I was unlucky, or maybe this is how the hotel usually operates.

I stayed at IntercityHotel Duisburg for the K Plastic Fair. Being right next to the station was convenient, and there were nice restaurants nearby. The rooms felt a bit small and the beds weren’t very comfortable. There were no towels when I first got to my room, but staff brought them quickly when I asked.

The hotel is clean and modern, and our room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Staff were friendly and efficient throughout. Its location is ideal, right by the station and just a short walk from the city center. We got a great price and had a very good stay, so I’d recommend it. Breakfast was decent, though nothing special. Parking costs €19 per day and space is a bit limited, but manageable. There was only one working elevator because the other one was out of order, which was inconvenient at times.
