Apartmenthaus Sonnen

I was surprised how quiet it was, even with the airport runways only a few hundred meters away. Sonnen feels almost like a little village, and its position between the airport and Düsseldorf expo grounds worked perfectly for my business trip. The rooms were pleasant and functional, with all the amenities I needed for work. Service and location were both faultless for me. I might not choose it for a long holiday, but it's a solid business stay.

The location was really convenient, with a 15-minute walk to the Messe fair area and the airport 10 minutes away by car. We could relax on the room's balcony, away from the stress, and the backyard looked out onto lovely nature. The apartment felt like home, with an amazing kitchen full of equipment. Cleaning was incredibly nice, the internet worked fine, and the staff were understanding and helpful. If you're coming to Düsseldorf, I don't see a need to look elsewhere.

Willi really looks after the details. Breakfast was homemade and tasty, with a buffet selection and coffee like cappuccino, cafe latte and espresso, plus fresh apples and bottled water. When we needed a room for another colleague at short notice, he even arranged a guest room at his daughter's house, where we were welcomed with flowers in the room (see image). We stayed at Apartmenthaus Sonnen from Sunday to Friday while our company attended MEDICA 2021. Booking and pre-arrival communication were quick and efficient, and the stay was very pleasant. Willi is a fantastic host who goes out of his way to help. It's in a suburban area close to the airport and trade fair, with public transport nearby, and Willi can also arrange a taxi if needed. We'd highly recommend it to business travelers looking for a simple place outside the city. We'll come again.

I couldn't get the wifi going at first, but turning off my vpn fixed it. Check-in was self-service because I arrived mid-afternoon. The email instructions were clear, and a phone call helped me find my way in. It's easy to locate, with a local airport bus stop just a few metres away and two U-Bahn stops within a few hundred metres. The guesthouse has big, comfortable rooms and a rain shower. Willi gave me a warm welcome, and breakfast was a tasty continental spread with local cheeses and salami, plus bread fresh from a bakery a few minutes up the road. Highly recommend for visiting the area or going to an event at the Messe exhibition centre.
