City Apart Hotel

Breakfast was really nice, with plenty of different things to eat, and the off-season price was acceptable. The service was friendly and straightforward. Our clean, cozy room had comfortable beds, a working TV, and fast Wi-Fi. The bathroom was very clean too, so we didn’t have to worry about bacteria or anything.

After 12 hours on the road, we arrived to find that the hotel had no record of our booking. Showing the confirmation email didn’t help, and the hotel was full. We’d booked three months ahead, so there was no help finding us a room. The receptionist seemed more concerned with holding on to her blanket than helping us. There wasn’t even an apology for their mistake. This had happened two years ago as well, though that time they managed to clear a room at the last minute. I’ve stayed at this small, centrally located hotel for years, but this was awful and I’ll never use it again. In the end, another hotel helped us after we explained what had happened.

The rooms are clean, but there’s no elevator, so a room on the fourth floor means climbing more than four flights. Breakfast is meant to run until 10, yet they close at 9:15 for no reason. You can find better accommodation for the same price.

The room, Wi-Fi, and breakfast were generally good, but the service was the weak point. The older woman didn’t show much warmth to anyone. We were also given a different room from the one we’d booked, and the television didn’t work.
