Holiday Inn - the niu, Hub Dusseldorf Messe by IHG

The room door lock doesn't actually work, and housekeeping came by at 6 p.m. There's nowhere to store clothes, and no kettle. The toilet smelled foul, as others have mentioned, while the lobby, elevators, and whole third floor smelled of cigarette smoke. The location is poor and the hotel is overpriced. Not sure what else to say.

The location didn't work for me. It's a kilometer from any nearby transport, there's no food option nearby apart from what the hotel provides, and it isn't a friendly area. Rooms are small and lack basics like a kettle or wardrobe, though room service was good.

My room was spotless, with a really nice modern setup, and the cleaning staff did a fantastic job. The covers could've been thicker, but since I was alone and had two double beds pushed together, I used two duvets and stayed warm. The staff were super friendly. The location is the main drawback. To reach the tram stop by public transport, I had to cross the autobahn, which was the only route I could find. There's a mini shop at reception, but the prices are crazy. The Aldi about a 15-minute walk away is a better option.

The room was nice and the staff friendly. The heating wasn't working properly during our one-night stay. We didn't ask to have it fixed, though they probably would have if we'd mentioned it. It was what you'd expect.
