THE COMFORT CLUB - Boardinghouse

The photos online look beautiful, but calling this a hotel or even a studio is misleading. It’s a nicely decorated room in a small residential building numbered 12-16, with no sign to guide you. A childcare worker next door had to point me there. There’s no dishwasher, microwave, washer, or dryer. There were no staff, concierge, amenities, or cleaning service. During our six nights, from October 26 to November 2, nobody removed the garbage, cleaned the room, changed the linen, or replaced the two towels for my wife and me. Room 15 had a small closet that barely held one person’s things, so we had to leave both suitcases on the floor and keep our clothes in them. The outside-facing sliding door was hard to move, only opened 1-2 feet, and had no lock, so anyone could enter day or night. That worried us at night. The window was dusty and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned since construction. The bathroom was as small as the law would allow, with no counter or shelf, so everything had to go on the floor. Apart from a small mirror above the single sink, there were no mirrors in the room. My wife was shocked by the place, but we had prepaid over $900 and had no chance of getting reimbursed if we left. It isn’t worth more than half what we were charged each day.
