Trip Inn Hotel Esplanade

The staff were super friendly, and breakfast in the morning was nice. It feels a bit like sleeping at your grandma’s: worn carpet and dated furniture, but everything works and the place is warm, clean, and cozy. It could use a major restoration.

The location is excellent, right in the city center, and the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows and a fine blanket. Daily cleaning was included, and the reception staff were kind and welcoming. Still, after two nights I’d probably choose somewhere else next time. For the price, which wasn’t extremely high but wasn’t cheap either, I expected more from a place presented as four-star. It felt closer to three-star and didn’t live up to that rating. The double room was quite small, the carpet looked old and worn, there were cobwebs, and the room didn’t feel very clean. Soundproofing was poor too: I could clearly hear people talking next door and doors opening and closing all along the floor. Our window looked directly into another room, so the neighbors could see us and there was very little privacy. The bathroom door had no lock, and there was no shampoo, only shower gel. The hotel isn’t terrible, but the noise and condition made it disappointing.

The location was good, and breakfast was adequate, but at €15 I expected better. The room was poor, with badly stained carpet and furnishings that were old and very basic. This hotel is long past its best. I wouldn’t recommend it until it gets a thorough makeover.

There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and stores nearby, and WiFi was reliable most of the time. I stayed three nights. My single room was decent, with a small balcony, fridge, and safe, though it was dusty. It felt more like a three-star than a four-star hotel. A street-facing room gets quite noisy even late at night or early in the morning, with trucks, trains, church bells, and sirens, and you can hear the neighbors too. Bring earplugs. There’s no A/C, and the hot water wasn’t great. I skipped breakfast because 15 Euros seemed steep.
