Strixner Hof

The service felt warm and attentive, and I was made to feel welcome right away. I loved the food, especially the steak, which was tender, juicy, and cooked just right. The other dishes were great too. I’ll definitely come back, and I’d happily recommend this restaurant!

We were glad to hear that Stixner Hof had reopened, but this visit was a real letdown. The onion roast beef was so tough, and when we asked about it, we were told the butcher had supplied the wrong cut. My burger was okay, though the plate was so small that I kept having to stop the fries and burger bits from falling off. The restrooms could easily double as storage space, and the fridge isn't any colder. I also thought it would have been nice to get a little cookie with my cappuccino, though of course it wasn't necessary. I brought up all these points after we'd paid, so there'd be no misunderstanding that I was asking for a discount. The waitress I had complained about was very friendly and said she'd pass on the feedback. Then, just before we left, the “manager” came to our table and told us we didn't know what we were talking about, adding that she'd worked in restaurants for 40 years. She seemed very temperamental, so we didn't want to argue much, especially since it was Christmas. Maybe we should have said nothing and just not gone back, but if everyone does that, soon nobody will come anymore. I also didn't like seeing the waitresses belittled in front of customers.

We had a great view of the room, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The steaks were delicious and cooked exactly how we ordered them, medium rare: one filet mignon and one ribeye. Country potatoes, a baked potato, and green beans with bacon all went nicely with them. The food took a little while because one of the two chefs had left unexpectedly yesterday at lunchtime. The owner apologized several times for the wait, which didn't bother us, and everything ran smoothly despite there being only two waitresses. We’ll definitely come back, since it’s been a long time since we’ve had steaks this good.

It's a shame you've moved away from Augsburg, though we're glad you opened this great restaurant, even if it's farther away now. The steaks and burgers here are absolutely delicious, the best. We'll definitely keep coming back. Best regards, Heidi & Alex
