Villa Liliengrund

The balcony will be much more useful when we return in summer. In December, we couldn't really enjoy it, though its position by the access road wasn't an issue since the house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac with no through traffic. We always had a parking space reserved for us, and the owners were friendly and easy to reach. The room was clean and had everything needed for a holiday apartment, with furnishings that mix pieces suited to the house's age with more stylish ones. Villa Olga in Liliengrund is a beautiful house among greenery at the foot of Wartburg Castle, and the photos show it accurately. We felt very comfortable there.

The apartments were spotlessly clean, thoughtfully furnished, and had everything we needed. The hosts were warm, relaxed, and ready to help, so we felt well looked after. Wartburg Castle is only a short walk away, while the house itself is peaceful and surrounded by greenery. Villa Liliengrund's striking architecture and special charm made the stay memorable from the moment we arrived. A place we'd gladly return to and recommend.

We felt welcome and at ease straight away. Villa Liliengrund is a lovely historic building in peaceful surroundings, but still close to the heart of Eisenach. A great spot to unwind if you want to relax somewhere beautiful.

The apartment was spacious, clean, and practical, with all the essentials, though it felt a little bare. The hosts didn't make us feel particularly welcome. Apart from a routine, rather unemotional “Good day,” they seemed to avoid contact, and the key box meant the whole stay was contactless. We only happened to meet the landlady, who said who she was after we asked. It's a shame, because the house somehow feels as if it has lost its soul. We chose the apartment partly for its advertised “quiet location on the edge of the forest,” and peace and quiet mattered to us. Instead, the road was busy and loud as cars rattled over the gravel on its poor surface, even though the house is at the end of a cul-de-sac. There was landscaping work nearby every day, and installation of a new heat pump in the house meant drilling woke us around 8:30 a.m. each day. All of that really got in the way of relaxing. The villa itself is beautiful, with a well-kept garden and plenty of parking, and its location is good, just not quiet.
