Small menu, but there’s enough to choose from at this nice Swabian restaurant. I’d go back anytime.

I called it “Swabian cuisine, nothing more” because I didn’t want to immediately put the place down, especially since it has good reviews too. Swabian food can be delicious, I agree. But I went with two friends, and the Zwiebelrostbraten and Schweinebraten we ordered weren’t good. The Schweinebraten had clearly been reheated more times than it should have been, and the Zwiebelrostbraten didn’t seem fresh. I’m not quick to complain, so I said nothing while we were there. Later my friends agreed the food was poor, so I guess that’s how it was.

We came across this inn right beside the bike path on our Kocher-Jagst cycling tour three weeks ago. Even though it was their day off, the owner kindly found us a room, and we booked two nights. It was simple but comfortable, and the price was unbeatable. He can seem reserved at first, but once you get talking, he’s very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, service very friendly, and breakfast decent. We’d gladly stay again.

I’ve been coming here for my favorite schnitzel and potato salad since I was a little boy, and I’m still a regular. It always tastes delicious, the owners make guests feel looked after with a friendly chat, and the value is unbeatable. There’s also a bowling alley and beer garden. I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit.
