B&B Hotel Emden

I only stayed one night, but the cleaners opened my room at 8:07am while I was still asleep. The reception desk was unattended from 8:59 to 9:25am, and breakfast choices were very limited. They asked me to create a B&B account to get free water. I signed up, but there was no water 😁. I'd look at other places next time I'm in Emden.

I’ve stayed at this hotel every time I’ve come to Emden, but this visit at B&B Hotel left me frightened and feeling that the property may not be safe, especially at night. At about 1:30 AM, very loud bangs started coming from different walls. The vibrations were strong enough to knock my phone charger off its stand. I was scared and called customer care right away, but got only an automated message saying support would be available in the morning. Feeling unsafe, I booked a room at a nearby hotel. When the noise briefly stopped, I grabbed my passport and ran there in the middle of the night. I told the hotel staff the next day, and the receptionist said there was nothing they could do because it had happened the night before. I still don't know what caused the noise. It could have been someone in a nearby room messing around, an attempted robbery, or someone trespassing. I never said it was an earthquake, and I know it wasn't a natural event. My concern was that someone might have been disturbing or vandalizing rooms, or trying to get into them. The building setup also makes me uneasy. Reception is on the top floor, while guest rooms are below, and there's no reception or security at the entrance. Anyone coming in from the street can walk up to the room corridors. The doors were simply open as we walked in, and no access card is needed for the building or any floor, only a code for the room door. With no staff around at night, it feels like no one is accountable if something happens. The emergency number mentioned by the hotel didn't help either. I tried customer support during the incident and only got the automated message. Alone and feeling unsafe at 1:30 AM, I chose to leave. The next day, staff again said they couldn't do anything because it happened the previous night. I've stayed here several times before without problems, which made this incident all the more disappointing and frightening. One serious safety incident can change how a guest sees a hotel, especially when no immediate help is available and the cause remains unknown. I'm sharing this honestly, not to be unfair. As a solo traveler, I need to feel safe, and on this occasion I didn't. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who puts a high value on safety, particularly solo travelers.

It's in a good spot, about a 10-minute walk from the train station, with a bus stop right outside. You can book and pay through the app, which feels up to date, and it's now my usual hotel in Emden. I had trouble with the Booking.com access code and needed to reach reception, which is only open until 23:00. The hotel said by email they could provide the code and that a later check-in was possible too. All in all, a good stay and I'd recommend it.

We spent four days here and found the accommodation clean, comfortable, and soundproof. It was a good stay, and we'll come back next time.
