Hotel Hirsch mit Café Klösterle

The hospitality from the hosts was brilliant. I arrived late after serving food, and the very friendly owner sorted me out with a huge plate of ham and bread. The ice creams were amazing too.

I stopped by during a cycling tour and had a great time. The homemade black forest gatue and coffee were excellent. It turns out the owner is a bike enthusiast too, so we had a nice chat.

The food was incredibly delicious, and the staff were very helpful in explaining the dishes since we speak very little German. The atmosphere was relaxed, and they let my dog come inside because it was cold and rainy. Loved it!

The service was rude and uncaring, and the staff seemed xenophobic. Even though there were lots of free tables, nobody welcomed us. After a wait, we were gruffly told to sit at any open table. The waitress took a good 10 minutes to bring the menu, then came back 15 minutes later for our order. She seemed to value her time far more than ours, giving us about half a minute to order and getting impatient with my limited German. Nobody tried to help us understand the menu. Later, no amount of eye contact or saying Entschuldigung could get the waitress back to the table. When she finally came, she was combative and rude, as was the old chef/host. They made it pretty clear we weren't wanted and that serving us was a favor. It was a waste of time and an unpleasant, xenophobic experience toward tourists and non-Germans. Do yourself a favor and walk a few meters up the road to the restaurant-cafe Schwarzwaldhof next to the metzgerei. The food there is excellent, the service charming, and the prices better.
