Compared with other places in Bavaria at the same price, this doesn't deserve such a high rating, either for the hotel or the restaurant. I stayed in the old building. The room was nice despite its dated decor, but the view was of the neighbours' mess, and the bathroom looked straight out of the 80s. There was only one pillow. At the back entrance, the ashtray was full of cigarette butts, so the smell of cigarette ash hit you as you came in. Outside room 7, there was a dangerous step onto solid granite floor tiles. Carrying bags there is awkward, and an older or distracted guest could easily fall. The bathroom towels were old and frayed, and one staff member seemed amused when I mentioned it. The food was poor overall: a soggy salad with iceberg lettuce and overcooked beans, steak fried in too much oil instead of grilled, and sliced potatoes dripping with oil. The chocolate pudding was good. Breakfast was fine, with plenty to choose from, but nothing remarkable. When I went to return my key, one of the owners rubbed her fingers together and said, “you pay now!” as a statement, not a question. I found that rude. They speak very good English and could easily have asked, “would you like to pay now?” Disappointing for southern Germany.

The hotel is in a peaceful area, close to a bus stop and the S-Bahn station. My wife, our two young daughters, and I stayed here for a friend's wedding in Erbach last Saturday, and the family running Hotel Zur Linde made the visit memorable. We booked a double room, and they provided a baby cot when we asked. There was enough space for two adults and two children. The owners, an elderly couple and their son, welcomed us warmly. The rooms were lovely, spotless, and well kept. The restaurant and corridors felt cozy and homey, with a pleasant scent. We ran into a transportation problem on the wedding evening because we couldn't find a taxi to the wedding hall. The owner kindly offered us a free ride, and their son drove us in their private vehicle. The next morning, breakfast was at 8 am, with a wide selection of food and drinks, nicely presented and promptly replenished. The family showed real care and attention throughout. If I'm in the region again, I'll definitely book a night or more at Hotel Zur Linde. Their hospitality deserves a perfect 10-star rating. Thank you for making our stay so special.

The location is handy, right by the train station, with groceries, a drugstore, and other shops just steps away. You can't hear the trains, though. The rooms are clean and modern, the beds very comfortable, and the walk-in shower with its rain head is great. If you prefer a more traditional feel, you can stay in the original Gasthof. The restaurant serves delicious, authentic German food. For a family-owned hotel and restaurant with an authentic German feel, this is a treat. Highly recommend!

Zur Linde is family-run and about 15 minutes from Ulm city centre. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are all very kind, and the restaurant is definitely worth trying. The best place to stay near Ulm.
