City-Pension Erding

The rooms were clean, but very small, and the WC is out in the hallway. The guesthouse is in a questionable spot right beside a run-down Chinese restaurant. I wouldn’t want to run into the other overnight guests, all of them men, at night. That’s just my personal, subjective impression. When the cleaners arrive early, the noise is hellish. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room and bathroom were clean, but €75 was far too much for what we got. Finding the guesthouse took ages since it sits beside a Chinese and a Greek restaurant. When we arrived, the owner skipped a friendly hello and immediately asked for €75. Then she said, “Finally, some Germans. We have so many refugees here,” and kept talking about it. We just wanted some peace and sleep. After about 10 minutes and two polite requests, she finally left. I also wouldn’t want to meet the other guests, who seemed like shady male characters, in the dark. We only booked because nothing else was available. Once was enough. Next time, I’ll book earlier and find somewhere decent.

The room was neat and clean, and the beds seemed brand new. In the end, everything worked out without any problems, but the setup felt a bit suspicious at first. We couldn’t find City Pension because the Chinese restaurant next door was so prominent. You have to go through the parking lot, around the back, and up to the second floor. There’s no reception desk, just a phone number to call. They direct you to the room, where the key and bill are already waiting. The restrooms are in the hallway, and breakfast wasn’t included, as stated. Still, I think €73 is too much for that. I wanted to check something on teletext that evening, but the TV didn’t work at all, which left an unpleasant aftertaste.

At 70 euros a night, this was too expensive. The bed hadn’t been freshly made, there was water damage on the ceiling, the bathroom was filthy, and the smell was unpleasant. I’ve never had a worse experience. If I could, I’d give it half a star.
