Holiday Inn Express Munich Airport - Erding by IHG

After landing in Germany, this is a handy place to crash before heading on to Munich the next day. It’s reasonably priced and close to the airport, with a comfortable bed and a shower. You’re also just a five-minute taxi ride from a proper spa day, then can walk into the little town for a tasty German meal and an Erdinger. You probably won’t feel like going somewhere fancy or far after an international flight anyway.

Calling this an airport hotel is misleading unless you have a car. It’s a 40 euro taxi ride from the airport. You’d be better off staying in Munich and taking either the S1 or S8 to the airport.

We had a comfortable bed, working A/C, and a decent breakfast, and it was an easy walk into town. But our room was very small for three adults, though we managed for one night. There’s no train station nearby, so we needed a car and paid 20 euros for parking. The reading lights by the bed were on the same circuit as the hall light, which made them unusable. Still, it’s a good place to stay before a flight.

The location is a bit far from places to go, though it works well if Erding Therme is your main destination. Our room was clean, and the extra beds were made up impeccably. There were irons and boards for our wrinkled clothes, and handwash, bodywash, and shampoo came in refillable bottles. Breakfast was okay, though adding pommes or mashed potatoes would make it amazing.
