Hotel Sonja

Really great.

Top-notch soft serve.

The courtyard is a nice place to sit, with a playground too, and dogs are welcome. There’s a good range of sundaes as well as delicious soft serve. A lovely ice cream place, worth visiting more than once.

I used to drive 16 km to come here at least three times a week last year. I’d get a large chocolate-vanilla ice cream, then another for the drive home. 😅 Something has changed, though, and the ice cream is now so creamy that I threw mine away after a few bites. It tastes like any other soft serve, not the kind I remember from the GDR. 😓 When I mentioned it at the window, the woman there insisted nothing had changed, saying it was the same powder company and machines, and looked at me as if I’d imagined it. A few minutes later I saw a notice by the door explaining why the taste was different. Apparently something had changed after all, and lots of people had complained. I won’t make the trip anymore.
