OPERA Hostel

The building is lovely and the rooms are basic, with an excellent kitchen. But the Wi-Fi doesn't work anywhere in the building, and there's nothing you can do about it. Older reviews say this has been going on for years, so the hostel should take it off its facilities list. The bus from the train station isn't frequent on weekends, and the push-button showers are a minor annoyance. It seems like a good spot for domestic tourists or cyclists, since people bring their bikes into the entrance hall. Zero Wi-Fi is the biggest issue.

The receptionist was extremely friendly, and the place was clean and felt like home straight away. There are so many adorable details, too. It's two minutes from excellent sushi and only 20 minutes from the next boulder gym. A rare find, and pet friendly!

The showers are on a mechanical timer to save water, which wouldn't bother me if the timer lasted longer and the shower head wasn't so clogged. Also, because it's an old building, you can hear other guests walking around quite a lot, especially at night. Even so, I'd definitely recommend staying here. Great overall!

I spent about two months here in summer for a work/study, and it was fantastic. The staff were all down to earth, really cool, knew the area well, and were happy to help. I even made a couple of really good friends here. The hostel rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable, and the decorations make the place feel interesting and homey. Fantastic place to stay!
