Hotel Bayerischer Hof

Bayerischer Hof is a dependable classic in Erlangen, whether you're visiting for work or a city trip. It brings together traditional character and modern amenities. The location is hard to beat: it's central, a short walk from Erlangen train station and the main shopping areas. Staff are professional, welcoming, and helpful with local recommendations. The rooms have modern comforts, including Smart TVs and adjustable lighting. Breakfast is a highlight, with a wide range of fresh options served in a distinctive setting, often in the historic vaulted cellar. If you're driving, the underground garage is convenient, though parking can be a bit pricey, so check the rates beforehand.

A really good hotel in the centre of Erlangen. The rooms are clean and well maintained, and the staff are very friendly and speak English. There are plenty of breakfast options and it's worth having. You can walk here from Erlangen Hauptbahnhof or take a bus to the nearest stop, Langemarkplatz.

The breakfasts are a real plus, with plenty to choose from, including fresh fruit, eggs, sausages, and pancakes. The cappuccino and espresso are good too, and the rooms may feel a little dated but have always been clean. It’s also close to the city center, tucked into a quiet courtyard away from traffic noise. The booking and check-in side has become a dealbreaker for me. Since mid-2024, check-in has taken us 30 to 60 minutes, which is awful when you’re only staying two nights. Reception staff often seem unsure of even simple tasks, and email communication is slow and awkward. My colleagues and I also had a cancellation fee taken from our accounts by mistake, despite never making a reservation. They keep card details on file, so reception errors can lead to unexpected charges. I’d use Revolut or something similar instead of a personal or company card. I’ve stayed here many times, and while it’s a nice hotel with a great location and breakfast, I’ve decided not to come back because of the reservation problems.

We picked this hotel for being near the train station, and were pleased with the room and amenities. But what really sticks with us is how welcoming Kamilla Pfeifer was at the front desk. Sorry if I’ve misspelled her name. We ran into her a few times, and each time she was kind, informative, and made us feel like special relatives visiting her home. It’s good value in a convenient location, and I’d recommend it. Hope you get to meet Ms Pfeifer too.
