Hotel garni König Humbert

I arrived in Erlangen on 11/28/2021 to check into this hotel, but the door was locked. When I called, the administrator told me I had to book online before I could check in, so I did. Then she asked me for proof of vaccination. I sent one document, but she refused it and still wouldn’t open the door, saying it wasn’t the certificate she needed. I sent another one electronically with a QR code, and she refused that too. I ended up stranded outside. Three weeks later, I still hadn’t received my money back, so I contacted Booking support, who referred me to the receptionist. The administrator said I hadn’t met the conditions or provided a document of vacancy, so she had refused me entry and would not refund me. I have photos of our messages showing that I sent the documents, and the hotels where I stayed afterward confirmed they were valid. This was my first day in Germany. I don’t recommend staying here or giving money to people who treated me so callously.

The staff were wonderful, and I’ve never had such kind service at a hotel. Breakfast was great, and when I needed to add a few days to my booking, it was handled without hassle. They answered all my questions. My room was comfortable, and the shower was even better than the one at home. There was also a towel warmer in the bathroom, plus a couch, TV, phone, and alarm clock in the room. Wi-Fi is free, which I appreciated, and messaging apps worked. You do have to sign in again every hour by agreeing to the Airfy Internet terms. Speeds varied depending on the time and how many people were online. Most of the time it was slow, around 100KB/200KB, with rare bursts up to 2MB, but browsing and YouTube worked fine. The routers are only on one side of each floor, so rooms on the other side may have connection problems. It would be nice if access were limited to hotel guests, since outsiders nearby can use it too and may slow things down. I’d still highly recommend this hotel.

The room wasn’t very clean, and I didn’t feel like touching much in it. For the price, the value wasn’t great. I was glad to leave early.

The location is great, but the rooms aren’t as large as you’d expect from a hotel. There’s no receptionist around all day, only during daytime.
