Filla Andre

I was cycling around Cochem recently when I came across Filla Andre, a charming hotel and winery by the river, with a terrace looking out over the Mosel. Hungry and curious after seeing people enjoying wine and the view, I checked the restaurant reviews and decided to try it. Most people inside seemed to be having wine rather than a meal, but when I asked about food, they brought me a handwritten menu with three main courses for the day. I liked that personal touch. I chose a dish and a dry Riesling, my favorite white wine and one the region is known for. I took everything out to the terrace and enjoyed every course. The food was fresh, carefully made, and nicely presented. The Riesling, made in-house by the family who run the place, was bright, crisp, and full of character. I finished with their housemade schnapps, a perfect end to dinner. I travel a lot and make a point of seeking out good restaurants. This was one of the best meals I've had in the past year. The setting, wine, and hospitality all exceeded my expectations. I even came back the next day to buy six bottles of the same Riesling to take home. Filla Andre is a rare find. If you're a food lover, wine fan, or just passing through Cochem, it's well worth a stop. You won't be disappointed.

We found the location ideal, with enough distance from Cochem's noise and crowds, yet only a short bus ride away. It also has the best views all around in Ernst. The hotel gave us a free local transport ticket, which was a nice touch. Our room was clean, comfortable, and a decent size. There was plenty of parking out front, and all the staff were kind and accommodating. The dinner menu changes daily, and the food was the best we tried in the area. After eating at several places, we felt our best meals were at the hotel and would have gladly eaten all our dinners there. The hotel was flexible with guests, though it closed earlier than suited us. Breakfast could have had more vegetable-based items, for example yoghurt and milk, but it wasn't a big deal.

This review is just for the restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service was great. I highly recommend dining here.
