Hotel Haus Sonnenschein

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were neat and tidy. From a balcony room, you get a great view of the town and castle. The location is great too. The breakfast buffet could have been better.

We had a beautiful view of the Moselle, Cochem, and the Castle on the hill. The bathroom was across the hallway, but it was private for us, so that was no problem. Breakfast was great, with Prosecco included.

That view across the Mosel to Cochem was what made the stay feel like ten stars to me. I loved sitting out on the terrace or balcony in the evening, with glasses and a fridge stocked with drinks available. The staff were superb, and the place was really comfortable. Breakfast was a treat too: there were a couple of new things each morning, and coffee was ready in a flask when we came down at 8. They could bring more on request, or tea or chocolate instead. I was in heaven!

The hotel sits on the quiet side of the river, so evenings were very peaceful, and the village center is only about a five-minute walk away. Our room was a little small, which made setting up the baby cot a bit of a struggle for the first time, but it had all the facilities we expected. Parking is the main drawback: the hotel has only five spots, and riverside parking can be difficult in peak season. I imagine other hotels and their guests face the same issue, so I still thought it was good value.
