I ended up staying for six weeks, and by the last days the friendly staff felt like people I’d known for years. My German is very limited, but they switched to English and did everything they could to make things easy for me. The restaurant was great: I liked every dish I tried, especially the steak, and enjoyed the beer too. I even bought a ceramic mug to remember my stay. A really nice hotel.

The place has a lovely old-fashioned feel, and yes, it’s dated. That’s part of its charm. It’s been in the family for five generations, and I spent three weeks here. My room was huge, the food was great, and the people were wonderful.

The waiter was so friendly that we felt right at home. And the food was just as good as I remembered from my childhood in Germany, maybe even better. I live in the U.S. now, so that brought back some good memories.

Good food at a reasonable price, with friendly staff and a nice, cosy terrace. It’s said to be the oldest hotel in town, dating back to around 1700.
