Hotel Pension Friesenruh

We stayed five days as a family of four in the larger apartment, which had a small kitchen. It was nicely furnished and had everything we needed, with enough space for us. This is a family-run guesthouse, and everyone was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and there was always plenty. If you need anything, you can just ask, and there’s lots to do nearby. We’ll definitely be back.

The location was good, no issue there, but I can't recommend the accommodation. The room didn't match the pictures and wasn't worth what we paid. We even ended up paying more than the amount booked, so for me it gets zero stars and doesn't deserve a rating. Breakfast was okay apart from the machine coffee. Even when leaving, we had to drive to a nearby bakery to get a decent cup.

My daughter N. (1 ½ years old) had a great time, and the guesthouse was very child-friendly and pleasant. Don't be put off by the few bad reviews! Breakfast had a fairly wide choice of cold cuts and drinks, fresh rolls each morning, a fully automatic coffee machine, plus a few little extras on request. You can get cold drinks from the fridge in the evening for a small charge, or ask Mr. Schäfer if you like. The beach is about 700m away, and the guesthouse is very reasonably priced. You can't expect a top-notch hotel while paying guesthouse prices. If you want more, you HAVE TO PAY MORE ELSEWHERE. You're not there 24/7 anyway, you're there to experience the place. The rooms were clean and functional, though the furnishings seemed a bit dated. We still felt very comfortable during our lovely family weekend. From our first call to book right through to the end, the Schäfer family were friendly, pleasant, and full of useful tips. A big dartboard was a fun bonus, and the host even treated us to a complimentary shot of Küstennebel. Thanks so much! Breakfast was generous and tasty, and we also liked the fridge stocked with good drinks at cost price.
