Camping-Aller-Leine-Tal

We enjoyed walking the dogs through the woods and fields nearby, with plenty of wildlife around. It's quiet here, and close to the A7.

There was plenty of green space and the campsite felt peaceful, with quiet hours in place. In a tent, though, sounds from the highway could disturb your sleep. The toilets and showers were reasonably tidy, and there were enough of them. There's also a restaurant/pub, but keep in mind it closes at 8 PM. My friend and I were heading to the Czech Republic and got held up by a traffic jam in Hamburg, so we couldn't reach another campsite near Magdeburg. This place came to the rescue, and the overnight stay was surprisingly cheap: 22 euro for two people, one sleeping in a tent and the other in a car.

The shower water here is colder than at other campsites, below average in my experience traveling around Europe by car. I asked the host about it and wondered whether they had ever tried showering at their own campsite rather than at home. We paid 28 euro for two adults and a 5M campervan.

We stopped by for Hollander supper and were surprised by how good the food was and how good the service was. The camping facilities looked very clean and welcoming too, with a range of accommodation options. I'd recommend it, even if you're only coming for the food. Bob the American
