Flowers Hotel Essen

For what we paid, we expected more. The room was dirty, with several long hairs on the floor. It was also much too hot. We set the thermostat to automatic fan and the lowest temperature, 5 degrees Celsius, but nothing changed. Opening the balcony door brought in fresh air, but the traffic outside was extremely loud, so we had to shut it again during the night.

The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is modern and good. Breakfast could use a bit more variety, and a second coffee machine would help.

We liked having a balcony in the comfort room, and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel is a cool spot in downtown Essen, very close to Delta Park. Front desk staff were friendly, had earplugs available, and replied to our emails quickly. Parking cost 15€ a day, but we weren't sure where it was, and you couldn't reserve a space. We ended up finding free parking on a nearby side street. The restaurant serves tapas that are quite pricey, so we ordered pizza from nearby and had it delivered to the room. A few things could be better: early check-in before 3 p.m. costs 10€ for each hour, and checkout is at 11 a.m., not noon. We couldn't book late checkout in advance. There was a hole in the pillowcase, some lights didn't work, including the one hanging by the coat rack, and the mini fridge was tiny.

We stayed for a few days at the beginning of May, and the hotel was beautiful and cool. Check-in was quick and easy. There's plenty of parking, so arriving by car was no problem, and the train station is nearby too. The location worked well, close to the city center and the mall.
