We stayed one night so we could enjoy the Weihnachtsmarkt without having to drive home late. It's perfectly located, just one street away. The staff were very friendly and upgraded our room at no extra cost. Breakfast had a wide range of high-quality options. The hotel is older, but many rooms have been renovated and look beautiful. I'd definitely recommend it!

Everything else about the stay had been perfect, but the reception interaction left me feeling very unpleasantly treated. I asked for an iron using my room number, then waited in my room for 45 minutes and it never came, so I gave up and checked out. The same woman at reception didn't apologize or ask how the stay had been. She had flirtatiously asked the young man before me about his stay. When I said I wanted to check out, she replied “perfect” without looking me in the eye. I'd probably choose another hotel next time I'm in Essen.

For the price, this is a very good hotel. Hasan at reception deserves a special mention, he’s a really nice person.

I’d happily stay here again. The location, comfort, service, coffee, bathrooms, and price were all great. One thing I’d like them to add is secure Wi-Fi for guests who need to work and protect their data. I used my phone hotspot, but shouldn’t have had to.

Our room had enough space for four of us, including two kids, and they even set up a lovely spot for our dog. The hotel is pet friendly, very clean, and the staff are friendly. It’s only a two-minute walk from the train station and city center, including the Christmas market. The price was very low for this standard.
