Premier Inn Essen City Centre

The room was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. Breakfast was lovely, and the view from the 11th floor was great. With Essen station right next door, I couldn’t have picked a better hotel. I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel was good if you need to be in this part of town. The rooms were very nice, the beds comfortable, breakfast was fine but nothing special, and the staff were friendly. Essen, especially around the main station, felt a lot like Gotham City, with lots of homeless people and people struggling with addiction.

The room was unbearably hot, the air conditioning didn’t work, and when we asked for help, staff told us to move to a more expensive hotel if we weren’t happy. The bed was broken and very uncomfortable, and housekeeping wouldn’t clean unless we went to the front desk to ask. Parking was limited and expensive, and the rooms don’t even have basics like a fridge or phone. The staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. A completely ridiculous experience. This place was a nightmare, and I’d tell people to avoid it.

The room was clean and the location was excellent. We were visiting from Belgium for a couple of days and don’t speak German. At check-in we used English, but the receptionist kept answering in German. That felt very impolite. If she couldn’t speak English, she could have asked us to wait for someone who could, instead of continuing to give us directions and ask questions we couldn’t understand.
