Alphotel Ettal

The staff were so kind and welcoming, and there’s a forest path right beside the hotel for walking dogs. We had a lovely couple of days here. The rooms were spotless and nicely furnished, the facilities were well kept, and everything from the quality bed linen to the generous breakfast was great. It was hard to leave and continue our journey.

We really liked how quiet and beautiful the setting was. If you have a car, getting around is fine, but without one it’s hard to reach restaurants or nearby sights. Breakfast was excellent, with everything fresh and tasty. Our room was a decent size, and the bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom looked dated, though, and items such as the kettle could be better. We arrived at the spa in its last hour, so didn’t get to use much before the sauna was due to shut down. The pool was okay. I’d recommend the hotel for a visit to Ettal or the surrounding area.

Erina at the front desk was wonderful. Even with late-night tasks to handle, she found time to top up our beers and suggested the white sausage at breakfast, which is a must-try. The hotel was so welcoming to our dog, and our spotless room had stunning balcony views. There was plenty to choose from at the delicious breakfast buffet. We had a really relaxing, enjoyable stay at Alphotel Ettal and will definitely return. Highly recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

We stayed in a ground-floor room with our dog, which made things convenient, and could go straight out to the hotel’s backyard. The view was still great. Dinner was good and the portions were generous, although we had to ask for a reservation even though it wasn’t peak season. They did find us a table, but seemed reluctant to do so. The alpine setting is beautiful and the place feels cozy, though the exterior could use some renovation. There was generally enough parking, but I can imagine it becoming an issue during the winter peak season. Despite those small hassles, we enjoyed our stay.
