Stadthotel Engel

Right by lovely architecture and lots of restaurants, and the staff and management are wonderfully friendly. The warmest hotel in ettlingen. 10/10, I'd recommend it!

The night shift woman at the desk makes things easier and is very kind. The room was good, with a slightly hard but comfortable bed and a very good shower. Breakfast was included: a small buffet, but it had everything you need.

The central spot on the market square was convenient, with nice restaurants and transit options close by. We also appreciated the AC, though we had to pay extra for it. But the hotel didn't feel worth what we paid for four nights in August, when we were here for my brother's wedding within walking distance. The beds and pillows were awful. We'd requested two twins when booking, but got them pushed together like a king, with one large topper over both. When we told reception, they took the topper away and moved the beds to opposite sides of the room. Without it, the mattresses were hard as a brick, and even camping has been more comfortable. We asked several times for two toppers, but were told that wasn't possible because the hotel only had one large one for the room. After one night our backs hurt so much that we asked about the wellness area to relax. It was supposed to be included in our room rate, but reception told us it was closed for remodeling throughout our stay. The receptionists were unhelpful and didn't seem to care about our requests. I wouldn't stay here again.

I've been here nearly every week for the last three months. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and breakfast has a good choice. They keep to the current regulations, which made me feel safe around the other guests. It's centrally located and has its own parking, a big plus for Ettlingen. Rooms are decent and very clean, with good beds, though they're not especially spacious. I can only recommend it.
