ibis Muenchen Messe

The bar could use a bit more attention. The outdoor tables were sticky and dirty, and I had to ask for one to be cleaned before I could sit down. Wi-Fi was very fast in the bar, but in our room we could connect without getting internet, which was a pain when I wanted to work there. We were only stopping for a night on our way south. The room was clean and pleasant, with a good bed and bathroom, so it worked out fine for a one-night stay.

I booked a straightforward reservation for a German chancenkarte visa appointment through a well-known travel booking site, with the free cancellation option selected. Instead, I was charged the full amount for 30 days and the reservation was changed to non-refundable. Despite following up several times, the hotel wouldn’t acknowledge that I’d chosen free cancellation and refused to cancel without a fee or even with a cancellation charge. The booking site said the hotel’s decision was final and that it couldn’t help. I feel this hotel took my hard-earned money unfairly. This kind of behavior is pathetic and won’t help them in the long run.

My room was on the ground floor, looking out onto the parking lot, and getting to it meant going through the bar’s toilets. The hotel is poorly located and extremely basic. I paid €600 for one night, clearly because there was a fair in Munich. It felt like they were ripping off customers and cared more about making money than providing an acceptable room. A really bad experience.

We had some belongings stolen from our room, which had no safe. At first the staff seemed concerned and said they wanted to investigate, but later all they told us was that nothing could be done and they were sorry. It was a very unpleasant experience. Only one or two staff members speak English, and they aren’t always there, so communicating can be really difficult. With the fair so close and so many international business guests staying here, I think that’s unacceptable.
