We booked the suite, right in the center, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good, and there were complimentary drinks in the room, which was a nice touch. A few problems kept it from being a five-star stay: the spa bath leaked and the shower door wouldn’t close.

It was an acceptable stay, and the location is a real plus. The main shopping street is a five-minute walk away, across a road. Parking is free, which helps balance out the fairly high price for what you get. The first night was hard because the pillows were so lumpy, but the hotel replaced them the next day with slightly better ones, and we slept well the second night. The staff were hospitable, and everyone we met at reception spoke English. Breakfast was good for eggs and bacon, though the sweets tasted like the cheapest kind from a discount shop. The rooms were clean, but the furniture looked dated and the doors creaked. The bathroom wasn’t too bad, even with its 70s-style tiles, but the finish around the untiled parts of the bathroom door looked amateurish. They hadn’t even covered the building foam with acrylic, which seems like an easy fix. This was room 209. There’s no air conditioning, so you have to rely on the windows for fresh air. That worked well enough at this time of year, and we could close the window to sleep, though the roads were noisy with traffic day and night. The walls and ceiling are very thin. Both nights we heard someone snoring above or beside us, and a shower overhead sounded like rain on the roof. It seems soundproofing was overlooked when the rooms were modernized. The room doors use regular keys, which isn’t a major issue but feels dated. At the time of our stay, hotel guests in Flensburg had to show proof of COVID vaccination or recovery, and the EU COVID passport was accepted. You also needed that proof to eat inside food places. There are several small things the hotel could improve, like oiling the door hinges, replacing the poor pillows, and finishing the bathroom door properly. That covers both the good and bad of our stay.

The breakfast was great, but the place was noisy and we could hear a lot from the other rooms. The woman at the desk had spoken English fine earlier, but kept talking to us in German later, which felt really odd. Also, the doors don’t lock by themselves, so remember to lock yours.

The hotel was fine, though I thought it was a little overpriced. Breakfast was really nice, with lots of good options for a proper German breakfast.

A lovely little harbor town, and the hotel is in a good spot. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
