Möwennest

We cut our stay short after four days because we couldn't take it anymore, and I wouldn't recommend renting this apartment. The area around it isn't very nice: the passage from the street smells of urine, there's rubbish lying around, and the key box is mounted above the smelly bins. Getting to the apartment means climbing very steep stairs, though the actual hallway looks nice. Once inside, the first thing you notice is cheap, worn laminate, some of it damaged. Two windows behind the dining nook are gone, and the decor doesn't match the photos. Nearly every piece of furniture is battered, broken, or marked with burns. A chair a previous guest had tipped over was patched with metal brackets instead of replaced. One of the wobbly benches had six screws driven into the top to repair it, and its cushions badly need cleaning. The roof windows are covered in moss, with cobwebs hanging in front of them. There are dead bulbs, a bedside lamp with a loose connection, a broken radio display, a crooked towel rack, an uneven floor that makes the cupboard wobble, and loose bathroom tiles. Upstairs there's a single bed with a crumpled blanket beside it. On the walk to Edeka or the center, homeless people sit or lie around and hassle everyone. The Wi-Fi barely works. The washing machine is shared in the hallway, where the cleaner leaves dirty cloths sitting in it to go stale. I emailed the management at Port54 and got no reply.

We felt at home at "Mövennest," and the team deserves a thank you. Getting in touch was easy, and there was always someone available when we had questions. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped, with comfortable beds and a big bathroom with windows. We were five as a family; sharing one room, with an open partition and a bed on the gallery, worked fine for us. The three-minute walk to the center is hard to beat. With the window open, it was peaceful, with seagulls waking us. Internet came and went rather than staying stable. The stairs are very steep, so getting up to the apartment could be hard for anyone with mobility problems, but it was fine for people who walk well. Family W-D

A great choice for a city break, with free parking in a nearby garage. The apartment is lovely and right in the city center, with modern furnishings and comforts including a dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, and microwave.

The place is well equipped, though it could use better duvets. It got really cold overnight, and luckily there was a spare one, which fit well. One chair was broken and needs some care. The pedestrian street in Flensburg is exactly what you'd want to see.
