Strandquartier Solitude

The apartment is a lovely place for two, with a few quirks. It was easy to find even though we didn't know the area, and the location is excellent. You can park right outside, a bus stop with direct rides to the city center is just 50 meters away, and the sandy, shallow beach and Baltic Sea are a short walk off. The fjord promenade is lovely for a stroll. We liked the West Indies theme, which is fun and different from the usual furnishings. The sofa and armchairs are comfortable, in good condition, and big enough to stretch out on. Corrugated metal wall lights catch the eye. The metal coffee table has edges worth keeping your distance from if you don't want to scratch your clothes or skin, and the artistic dining table has a few sharp corners. The chairs are very comfortable. The kitchenette has everything and all of it worked well. There's plenty of room for luggage, helped by a small dressing room with a built-in wardrobe. The road leading to the beach is only a few meters from the building, so you can hear traffic, especially from the lower terrace or upper balcony. The lower apartments sit below street level, the upper ones above. Pleated blinds give privacy at the floor-to-ceiling windows, and we closed them to avoid passersby looking in. Each of the two lower apartments has a beach chair overlooking the front garden, which seems to have been planted with grasses originally. The apartments each have their own theme. In the adjoining storage room, the light didn't work, and big items like the vacuum and ironing board were left in plain view. We couldn't find a broom or dustpan, which is a shame with the beach so close and sand around. Both the living room and bedroom have matching flat-screen TVs with one remote between them. The little stereo had a remote too, but ours was missing the required battery. It didn't matter since we didn't need it. The bedroom is small but works well thanks to the excellent box spring bed. We rarely sleep that well. We did have to figure out that both the curtains and blinds should be closed, if the curtains were still on their hooks. In the upper apartments, the entrance is beside the bedroom window, and the outside light there shines in to help neighbors find the keyhole. The bathroom has a pleasantly large walk-in shower, good storage, and a towel hook. Neighbors pass right by the floor-to-ceiling bathroom window, so close the blinds for privacy.
