We really enjoyed our stay. The room was quiet and comfortable, and large by European standards, with a king bed. Breakfast came with the stay and had more options than we could have asked for. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. Hotel Sonne is a lovely hotel and spa in the market center of historic Frankenberg, on the Eder River. Book the fine dining restaurant well ahead, since it only opens on weekends and the chef is well known. The other restaurant has a beautiful menu too, and we had no trouble getting a table there. It’s open seven days.

We had a relaxing stay at the hotel and spa over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The food was nice, and the staff were friendly. Maybe we’ll come back.

The village doesn’t have much to do, though driving about 30 minutes gets you to some fun activities. At the hotel, everything was exactly as described and really clean, and the staff were good too. The breakfast room looked lovely, and there was great food with plenty of options. The spa and wellness areas were clean and felt luxurious and new, with good materials.

We loved spending time at the hotel bar and out on the front terrace. The restaurants served delicious food with great service, and breakfast was delicious too, with regional cold cuts. There’s also a recognized gourmet restaurant and a spa. The hotel brings together historic buildings in the old town, joined above and below ground. They’ve been modernized while keeping their character, giving the place an elegant, warm, regional feel. Everything was clean and well maintained. A perfect place to treat yourself.

We booked two nights and were warmly received. The rooms were spacious, nice, and properly cleaned. Breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious, served in a beautiful, large, cozy room where we felt at ease. We also enjoyed the lovely wellness area, which was well looked after. Good food at the hotel and its very nice location rounded out our stay.
