Cozy place, with a very communicative and considerate host and hostess.

We left without eating, and won’t be back. There are other, better places nearby. We’d been hiking in an area we’ve known well for decades and wanted to give this place a try, but ended up very disappointed without even getting to try the food. There were only three occupied tables, yet the staff seemed overwhelmed. Nobody came to greet us or bring a menu in the first 10 minutes, so unfortunately we had to leave. That kind of disregard is completely unacceptable. Best regards from Berlin, please do better. Everyone deserves a second chance.
Dear Familie Krüger, We came to Rauenstein hoping to see the Neue Schloss, but it’s currently being restored. We’d just visited the fascinating Otto Ludwig exhibition at Museum Eisfeld, and by then we were hungry, so we decided to try your inn. You never quite know what to expect from a place you’ve picked as a gourmet spot, but we weren’t disappointed. The fish dish you served in your friendly dining room was wonderful, delicious and nicely spiced. The chef also shared a few kind words, and all was right with the world again. We’ll certainly return, by July at the latest, when the tobacco pipe exhibition is on at the Eisfelder. Thanks again. Best wishes, Dr. Irene and Jörg Zoch, Leipzig
The hosts are welcoming and the hotel is cozy, with delicious breakfasts. And the nature! It’s well worth hiking here. I’m going to pay another visit.
I’ve only tried a few dishes, but they’ve all been excellent and very reasonably priced. You can tell they’re made fresh and individually. I’ve rarely had fried potatoes with vegetables this good, and the Asian dishes are excellent too.
