The location worked well for us: the tram goes toward the city center, the U-Bahn is a short walk away, and there are restaurants nearby despite the industrial surroundings. We had an excellent dinner at Starnberger Wirtshaus. The hotel itself has a fun, distinctive look from reception through to the rooms. We booked two double rooms for one night with my wife and our two adult daughters. My wife needed feather-free bedding, which staff confirmed at check-in, but in our room there was only one suitable pillow alongside two feather ones. The duvets had been changed, but there was just one single duvet instead of two, and our daughters' room had the same issue. Reception had been friendly at first, but when I asked for another duvet and pillows, the man said no and told me housekeeping had left and no extra bedding was available. I also mentioned the strong cigarette smell in the bathroom. They noted it but didn't offer us another room. I tried again an hour later because it wasn't fair for our daughters to share one duvet. He was rude and dismissed my suggestion of borrowing one from another room, even though plenty seemed to be vacant. It left a sour taste and spoiled what could have been a nice stay. I raised it again at checkout the next morning and hope it was followed up.
