4/10
The staff were kind and helpful, and our cat was welcome with no trouble. The bathroom was nice too, especially the mirrors. The location worked well for us: Kaufland is nearby, Taumi Asia Fusion and Wirtshaus zum Alten Zöllner are within walking distance, the tram stops right outside, and Botanischer Garten Freiburg is close by. We liked the idea of an apart-hotel, but it didn’t suit us for a longer visit. The room was extremely small, and at night we heard loud guests and people hotboxing in nearby rooms. It was only cleaned when we arrived, and that job left plenty of dust, a problem with our allergies. During our six nights there was no further cleaning, and we were given just four towels. The bed was very firm and the pillows were extremely flat, so the first night was uncomfortable. They brought extra pillows quickly when we asked, which was kind. Fine for a single night, but for a longer stay we’d look elsewhere.

The location was a big plus, with a tram stop right outside and Kaufland close by for stocking the mini kitchen. The interior felt modern, there was enough storage, and the shower was roomy with strong pressure and plenty of hot water. Sleeping was less pleasant. The bedding smelled used, and the mattress had sagged. The heating was the bigger problem: cold air came in around the window sill despite the double glazing, and the weak heater shut off by itself after about three hours. I woke up freezing, which made for a really uncomfortable stay.

The single room was comfortable for one and had a mini kitchen, handy for a longer stay. It’s near both the tram and supermarkets, and the other facilities were decent too.

There are lots of shops nearby and good public transport connections. Parking is limited, though local street parking is free overnight, at least. The studio’s Murphy bed wasn’t especially comfortable, and the A/C didn’t do much, as often happens in European hotels. Apart from that, I had a comfortable stay.

The supermarket is very close, and the location works well for a family trip. The bathroom cleanliness could’ve been better because the facilities are old, and the heater didn’t work very well while we were there.
