We found plenty of walks close to the hotel, but there wasn’t much information about them, especially in English. The hotel sent us to the local information centre in town, which was very helpful. Reception staff weren’t especially helpful or proactive about telling us to book dinner or a massage early. We missed out on a massage, and got a table at the back of the breakfast room for dinner. The hotel may be resting on its laurels. The setting is lovely, surrounded by classic Black Forest scenery and walking paths. Our room was bright and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the lake. The pool and sauna were relaxing, the breakfasts were high standard, and the food was generally good.

A couple of tips from our stay: ask for a lake side room, since the road can be a bit loud at night, and bring your own pillow if you prefer one to the very German ones provided. We’d happily return, it was a 10/10 for us. The staff and location made for a restful, rejuvenating visit. Meals were delicious and made with fresh local ingredients, and the Black Forest trails are just steps away for hiking or biking. This felt like one of Germany’s best hidden gems.

After two evenings in the spa, I felt like the world had melted away. I’m not looking forward to going back to reality, and I’d say the soul deserves some time away from the busy world with a little high class treatment. It was totally worth it. This little getaway is tucked among calm forests, clear creeks, and open skies. Schwarzwald National Park is nearby, especially if you have wheels, two are best. The food and service were top notch, though this is usually a touch out of my budget, so I’m easy to please. Thanks to the team for an awesome stay. I’ll be back!

The sauna area was the one thing I really liked. The place was far from town, there wasn’t much variety in the food, and the lake looked man made. It was a nice experience, but I don’t think I’d do it again.

We had trouble staying connected to the WiFi, though this place is really about disconnecting and enjoying the Black Forest anyway. The restaurant was fantastic, with traditional dishes and some great creations. Service was prompt and attentive, and the drinks were refreshing and sooo tasty. I tried a Swimming Pool, a Mai Tai, and a Sex on the Beach. The hotel feels peaceful and quiet, tucked into the forest despite being a five minute drive from Freudenstadt. There’s a lovely pond behind it and trails to walk around. Our room was clean, spacious, and modern. It had a Queen size bed with a single mattress, rather than the usual German setup of two small mattresses pushed together.
